Guidance Counsellor - McAuley College, BEAUDESERT​

  • $90,107 to $125,709 per annum plus Super (pro rata)
  • Part Time Continuing 0.4 FTE (2 days/week - preferably Wed, Thu)

About the role
As Guidance Counsellor, you will form part of the guidance and counselling team supporting the students and school community of McAuley College, Beaudesert in this ongoing part time position. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the establishment of the culture of student wellbeing in our newly established school, job sharing with a second Guidance Counsellor.

You will work collaboratively with the vibrant and engaging school community to foster the learning and wellbeing of all students through the provision of a proactive, quality guidance and counselling service. Supported by School Services and the Student Wellbeing team you will be responsive to a vibrant and complex community of teachers and learners. About the school

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is a learning community of over 145 schools. We aim to provide quality teaching and learning outcomes for Prep to Year 12 students. McAuley College is a master-planned 7-12 co-educational secondary College situated at Beaudesert, in the heart of the Scenic Rim, only 45 minute drive from the southern Brisbane and northern Gold Coast suburbs. We opened with Year 7 in 2017 and will expand each year until our first Year 12 students graduate in 2022.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Facilitate proactive and preventative practices and initiatives for the holistic development, mental health and wellbeing of students
  • Manage counselling and consulting services for students
  • Provide psycho-educational and other assessments
  • Ensure BCE protocols and quality processes are implemented
  • Maintain standards of practice

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Full registration as a Teacher with QCT plus completed Masters in school guidance and counselling; AND/OR full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA;
  • Successful experience as a Guidance Counsellor in an educational setting with a focus on prevention, intervention and student learning
  • Experience in identifying and developing activities to address academic and life career development of students
  • Experience in the administration, interpretation and report writing for psycho-educational assessments
  • Experience in providing support and leadership in response to student protection issues, critical incidents and risk management
  • Collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team environment

The School Locker St Mary's Primary and McAuley College is looking for a Casual staff member to run the uniform shop.

Staff support parents and students with purchasing School Uniforms and other items available in the store.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Customer service skills
· Excellent communication skills
· Comfortable with POS and inventory management systems
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Cash handling
· Record keeping/administration skills
· Ability to work independently.
· Enthusiastic and positive attitude to work
· Excellent time management skills
· Stock control

The position is for 6 hours a week Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons during the school terms, with extended trading during January.
