Pathways and Career Development
At McAuley College, we believe every student deserves a pathway that reflects their unique strengths, interests and aspirations.
Our Pathways Program supports students from Years 7–12 to explore future opportunities, set goals, and make informed decisions about education, training and employment. Through personalised guidance, industry engagement and real-world learning experiences, we empower students to confidently navigate their future.
How We Support Students
Students are provided with individualised pathway planning and access to a range of career development opportunities, including:
• Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan interviews
• Career counselling and pathway guidance
• Subject selection support
• Work experience opportunities
• School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs)
• Vocational Education and Training (VET)
• TAFE and university pathway programs
• Industry visits, guest speakers and workplace learning
• Careers expos and networking opportunities
• Employment readiness and career development activities
Through these experiences, students develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to pursue their chosen pathway beyond school.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides students with flexible and personalised learning pathways while completing their secondary education. Students can access a range of options, including school-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs), in-school VET qualifications, and courses delivered through TAFE Queensland and other approved Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
These programs enable students to gain practical skills, industry experience, and nationally recognised qualifications aligned with their interests, strengths, and future career goals.

Health Gateway Industry School
McAuley College is proud to be a Health Gateway to Industry School (GISP).
Through this partnership, students have access to valuable experiences that connect learning with the health and community services industries, including workplace learning, industry engagement activities, career presentations, work experience opportunities and exposure to a wide range of healthcare careers.These opportunities help students develop a deeper understanding of the qualifications, skills and attributes required for careers in nursing, allied health, medicine, aged care, disability support, community services and other health-related fields.
Strong Industry Partnerships
We work closely with employers, industry leaders, universities, TAFE Queensland, government agencies and community organisations to provide students with authentic learning experiences and current industry insights.
These partnerships help students build confidence, develop employability skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the pathways available after school. Whether students are considering university, vocational training, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment or other post-school options, our Pathways Team works alongside them to support informed decision-making and successful transitions.
